I would like to clear a rumor. I recently called American Red Cross in Washington D.C.(1-800-HELP-NOW)and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva (tel:41-22-730-4377). American Red Cross released their fund to International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in Geneva, the Geneva headquarter wired the fund directly into a bank in Taiwan, and then the bank sent the money to Taiwan Red Cross.

The officer in Geneva told me that even though they do not recognize Taiwan Red Cross technically, they do work with them in reality.

I was really concerned where the money was sent and decided to make those phone calls. You can rest assured that the money donated from several American Corporations and non-profit organizations to American Red Cross will reach the victims in Taiwan.

To Trudi Sommerfield,
My family lives in that area. That area is not significantly affected by the earthquake, so you do not need to worry.
