You asked for American input. Here's mine.
I have had misgivings about Nato's bombing campaign ever since it started. Yes, Milosevich and his thugs have committed terrible atrocities in Kosovo, and I think this has been very well documented. Mass murders, rapes, people robbed, stripped of everything they own, even their identification documents, sent on forced marches, forcibly expelled into surrounding nations--I think the photos and video and stories from the refugees that have been published around the world are ample testimony to what Milosevich has been up to. To Maja--those weren't movie extras CNN showed jammed together as far as the eye could see just across the border in Macedonia! And 200,000 people wouldn't all be telling the same lie, as you seem to assert.
That said, I don't think Nato is going to accomplish its objective of getting Milosevich to reverse his actions and change his ways by bombing Yugoslavia back to the stone age. This is burning the barn down to get rid of a few (relatively speaking) rats. NATO has done an enormous amount of damage and caused tremendous hardship and dislocation to a lot of innocent people (not to mention civilians killed), damage that will take years to repair, and for all this has only solidified support behind Milosevich. I think at best all NATO will accomplish is to get him to back off for a time til things cool off, and then he will just go right back to his old ways again, and the cycle will start all over again. I really don't see much hope for a permanent solution as long as Milosevich remains in power. But I haven't figured out how anyone is going to get him out of power, either, unless a coup takes place, and then who knows but what his replacement might be just as bad or worse.
The best I can suggest is that for the time, both parties lay down arms and try to negotiate some sort of a settlement where Serbs and Albanians can live together in peace. And for Nato to stop bombing Yugoslavia. Here in the US we have caucasians, blacks, asiatics, Indians, Christians, Muslims, atheists, you name it, all living together, and we all get along together for the most part, why cannot the Albanians and the Serbs do likewise?

But I'm glad to hear your positive thoughts on cannabis. Now, concerning your next post you obviously haven't enduldged in a while.
Do you remember where mankind first dealt with rape? It was used as a spoils of war. Encouragement for young soldiers to fight harder. Marriage was for the old soldiers not fortunate enough to die in battle. Now you ask me ridiculous, meaningless questions in an attempt to make me a war monger. It won't happen Jack.
No one can justify rape, no one. Neither side is free from it, including ours. Do you know how many young boys will be raped in American prisons? In there for cannabis possession. How would you like it? Ridiculous Jack, no one wants rape. But if I share your discust for rape, why don't you share mine for killing? Do you think NATO cares about rape. Or killing? I think war sucks, period. I think I heard that the Serbian refugees kicked out were mainly refugees taken in during the Bosnian conflict. But, I will not justify what the Serbs did or NATO. But the bombs arn't changing a thing. We cannot govern the world by stealing cultures and replacing them with K-Marts, BigMacs and Americanization. NATO's birthday party will be terrorized, prompting an escallation. Then what will you preach Jack? Nuclear?

i wonder , how would you like when armed serbs knock on your door at mignight and take your father away , rape your mother and your 12 year old sister?? i do not think you would be happy at all , it happened to me and it was in 1948 not now just because we are a minority group in their federal republic of yugoslavia,
we did not ask to be part of that ... they took a big chunk out of our country and now call it
VOJVODINA, BACSKA, BANAT.
i have escaped from that hell in 1952 and now i live in a wonderfull country . and now those idiots in belgrad they are claiming that the 2 CARE WORKERS are spy. they are humanytarians only...
