My daughter was 16 when she joined the British Army in January. Yes I know, you could say "well she knew what she was getting into" and I agree. She joined the army to be part of a peace-keeping force and that is what NATO is. When people say "send in the ground force" - would they say "send in my daughter or son?" Remember - we are talking about human lives here. If NATO feels that they can achieve lasting peace by sending in troops then it will be worth it. Do not push NATO into something before they are ready, do not put our children's lives at risk by rushing in too early. Use the troops to help the refugees and when the time is right, to rebuild Kosova for her people.

Sharon,
Sometimes when people say "send in the ground force," they would have to relize, "yes, send in my daughter or son." I know its a very hard thing to do and I really feel for the parents of NATO soldiers, but after all that is their job. And I know that is the only possible way to end all this. As bad as it may sound I would sacrifice my own son to go in with the ground troops, than to stop him from going and let all this massacring, ethinc cleansing and genocide go on. We just can't turn a blind eye to it any longer. Sometimes a few lost lives are worth it (even if it is my own son) for saving thousands and thousands of lives. Did you know God sacraficed his only son for humanity. And why wait for all the Kosovo people to be killed off and then send NATO in to rebuild Kosovo. Rebuild if for whom, for Serbs???? Besides your daughter had a choice that she picked. Did the Albanians have a choice in this matter, when their children, mothers, fathers, brother's, sister's and so on, were massacred and are still massacred until the last one seems to exist by Serbs bloody hands. That wasn't their choice, that was the Serbian's choice. Oh and not to mention, did the Croats, Muslims and Bosnians ask for the astrocities that were comitted upon them by Serbs??? In 1987, Croatia asked peacefully to be reconized as an independent country, it could have still been Yugoslavia and Serbs could have lived there as they did in the past, but Serbs didn't want that, they wanted blood on their hands.
Anyway God bless NATO!!!! And God bless your daughter, may God protect her!!!

Sharon,

If it is any comfort,
I think this will be resolved shortly
WITHOUT NATO troops - your daughter will be safe.

The Serbs will not capitulate,
but the bombings will stop.
Before this month ends the Russians,
the Serbs and NATO will agree to a work-out
acceptable to all involved.

The Serbs will retreat their army and police
NATO will stop the bombing
And Russian troops will protect the citizens of Kosovo.

I know about polemology,
the power elite and international politics.
So this is a fair prediction.

1. Russia is afraid of NATO expansionism
(so NATO will stay out)

2. Milosovic wants to save face and stay in power.
(Russians are their friends - so he technically he does not lose the war. He lost all other wars, this one will end in a so-called draw).

3. NATO is not interested in invading Kosovo.
(Hell, let their Russian friends do it if they don't believe us).

4. Albanians need protection from the Serbs.
(Nobody will argue on this)

5. Russian politicians must save face at home and regain respectable position in the international community.
(with the up-comming elections and all)

6. The SERB murder-machine has been destroyed
(No further comment on this)

7. The Serbian people will feel that they stood up to NATO and, although they did not "win", they were also not defeated.
(This is important for their nationalistic ego)

If the Serbs fear NATO occupation,
let them be occupied by their Russian friends,
under a mandate to keep the abusers
away from the abused.
Hell, we'll even feed the Russians while they are at it.

Your daughter will be safe
She'll be peeling potatoes and
shining her boots
until she gets back.
But it will be a long way to Tipperary.

Regards.

Katie,
God so loved us He gave us His only Son.
A man of peace. He didn't use ground forces to spread the message.
Sharon,
Our thoughts are with you at this time. I'm sure you are more worried than your daughter. I was in the military also.
She will do her job whatever it is and you will be proud. Remember, she believes in what she is doing. The only thing you can do is support her.

Thank you all for your messages of support. Yes, my daughter is a "born again" Christian and she did know what she was getting into. She joined the army so that she might be in a position to protect her fellow humans from evil. Many say to her, how can you be in the army and be a Christian. She says, read Romans 13. I just pray for peace with all my heart, not just for my daughter but also for the thousands of innocent people whether they be Serb or Albanian.

Sue,
Yes. But isn't the lives of the Albanians worth saving??? Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do. God gave us the power to stop evil (I'm not saying NATO troops have to go in there and slaughter Serbs), just that we have to help out these poor Albanians. NATO is going in on the defensive of humanity, not to slaughter Serbs (Serbs are doing that very nicely on their own). No matter what the ethnic background of a person is, we are all human beings and no one should have to go through that suffering, everyone deserves to be saved. Read Romans 13. "Love others as much as you love yourself." It's selfish of a person (don't worry, I don't mean you) to only think of themselves, then of other fellow beings. But take Sharon's daughter for instant. She is a very brave woman, and it truely shows how unselfish she is for loving humanity to risk her own life for others. God bless her!!!!

Sharon,
I'm definitely supporting your daughter and pray for her safety. I hope God takes good care of her.
What your daughter is doing is very brave and clearly shows that she has great compassion and love for her fellow human by joining the army so she could protect her fellow humans from evil. God bless her!! Hopefully peace will eventually come. Take care Sharon, my prayers are with you both. xoxoxo

Fred,
I totally agree!!!! Milosevic is definitely the only one who has clearly broken the law.

I THINK SENDING GROUND TROOPS OVER THERE IS TOTALLY CRAZY, BECAUSE WE SHOULD NEVER HAVE GOTTEN INVOLVED IN THE FIRST PLACE.AND I'M SURE LIKE MANY OTHER WIFE'S, HUSBANDS, OR OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS OF PEOPLE IN THE SERVICE WE WOULD RATHER HAVE OUR LOVED ONES AT HOME INSTEAD OF FIGHTING SOMEONE ELSES WAR...ANGEL....

No need to send groundtroops. Give Milosovic a chance to finish what he started. Send all refugees back into Kosovo without protection. Allow them to be anihilated. Without them there is no longer a problem - for anybody. Give Milosovic the chance.

Milosevic wants a Greater Serbia, OK, deport all the Serbs in the NATO countries to Kosovo, give the displaced Albanians the Serbs homes and property. They should be given no more than 15 minutes to get what they want to carry to Kosovo, that's more time than most Albainians got, also take all of their jewelry and money . We must not forget to get to destroy all of their papers too.
Then there won't be a need for any U.N. or NATO troops in Kosovo, maybe there will be peace in Slob's Yugoslavia........UNTIL??

D-S, you should be a world leader! Unfortunately, fair is not fair in war, so the resolution to all of this will not be that easy!

Katie,
I didn't say anything about the Albanians lives aren't worth saving. What I am saying is that it is pitiful to quote the Bible and then say bomb them. Send in the ground troops.
It is also quite obvious you have never had the experience of being the one to be sent in or having a loved one go. It's so much easier to sacrifice other peoples lives for a just cause. And I'm sure if your son was of fighting age you'd think twice before sacrificing him.

By the way, I believe something had to be done in this situation.

Maja,

As a lawyer,
will you be defending the Serb war-criminals a year from now?

I hope BENJAMIN FERENCZ gets to be the prosecutor.
He did well with NAZI's at Nuremberg.

Will you have finished law-school by then?

I would prefer to prosecute, all of them. Those who are called butchers and those who call themselves peaceloving people. Sure will, have just few exams to go.
