Guido,

Don't worry too much.
She'll be back - she's an echo.
One cannot have the last word with an echo.

And if she does not return,
then it is not your "fault",
I think the evidence and the arguements
are becomming so overwhelming
that support for the Serbian angle is now impossible.

It is also becomming abundantly clear
that Milosovic will throw the towel
and that the war-crimes will be revealed to the world.
Once the stories and pictures and footages
start making it into the world,
people will be ashamed to say that they ever
oppossed the bombing, or worse
that they supported the deportation and genocide.

As for the rest of your message
you describe my ideals exactly.
FREEDOM AND JUSTICE.
So many have sacrificed so much
so that we may enjoy freedom and justice,
It is our duty to defend it
for ourselves and for others.

As soldiers of the Western Roman empire would say:

Livarsi na petra di la scarpa.

(lets) get this stone out of our shoes.

To Guido, Jack London, Maja and Emina.

Maby I am only a old lady but I now how to live in war.
I read you discution and I can only say that you are young. I am over 70 year.
You wrigth about democraty but no one of you now wath the word democraty meens. (I am sad for that).
I have been in kosovo (if I dont remember wrong the last time was in the 73-77) and then that was problems in the area. Kosovo (what I learn) always belong to Serbian. In kosovo dont livs only kosovoalbaniens and serbs, were are they another peopel from kosovo. Way dident sameone ask them how they are living in kosovo. I cant see the ending of war in ower world, but like it wrots in old testamony in Bibel (the same in koran) The peopel in the world will kild the world and all lives. If you likes me learn arhkologi then you now that many times in the history the tehknology noing was kild and the peopel was back to the start agin and so will it be agin.
War cant stop the diferents of me and you. Only the facts that I except you and you except me how we are and ouer personality.
I hope you anderstand my letter.
In a war ther are many questions from all sides and NATO and Yugoslavia makes propaganda.
So now and alwas has been.
Jenny.

Normally I only watch this list, but now I feel I have to comment.
I am Emina's twin sister. Being young has in the case of my sister absolutely nothing to do with her opinions. Te only thing such a statement does is kill all discussion.

I see you are new on this list, with already a judgement on someone's opinion. That would be typical for somebody young, like Maja of 22.

The opinions of the people who you accuse of being young are the opinions of people who have been through something, seen things, have been around, probably more than you know. If I take my sister as an example, she is a doctor, and holds at least four (I lost count) other medical degrees. She has lost her husband children and all her in-law family in the war in Bosnia, and on top of that she had to flee after being tortured half to death, still now having to cope with the consequences. She has the life ecperience of someone of, sort of eihty.

For my self I know my opinions of this war, and war in general do not come form the sky. They are there as a result of What i've been through in life. So count for others on this list.
I would advise you to read the old messages first, before you judge.

Democracy is very important,. and, as you state youself, respect for each other is the basis of that. To achieve that, the first thing you have to do is put away all the isms, including age-ism, in order to get a good, decent discussion. Passing judgement before inquiring both sides of the coin is another.

In the country where we live now, around this time, 4th and 5 th of May, 'old' people commemorat Wold War 2, the war, Molisebich is so inspired on. They pride themselves for having been in the resistance. As a reproter, I even intervieuwed a man, whao first talked hightly of his accomplishments in the battle of Arnhem, in 1994, but after some questioning it turned out the only thing he ever did was milk a goat for a pregnant lady. Still he thought all people born after 1945 wre sort of stupid, because they did not know what war was like.
As a contrast to that, the people who really did courageous things in the resistance, are either dead, or don't really talk in detail about it.

I don't suppose you are like this man. I hope not. Lets discuus things here without judging. Just discuss, ok?

Yesterday I read in my newspaper that the Serbs are committing warcrimes in Kosovo.
I was horrofied after reading what they did, they chopped of fingers, hands, arms, toes, feet, legs,
ears, noses.... from their victims.
But most of all I got sick from the fact that they also cut off the breast of the women.
Unbelievable.....I got so angry, why do I live on.
What am I doing here, I should be there, fighting.
Take my life, my fingers, arm, feet, I can take it, but leave those women alone. I am willing to sacrifice my life so others can live in peace.
Or I will take revenge, kill!!, kill!!, I want to drink their blood, after cutting their throats.
Totally berserk..... no, they may take me, if that will help others.
Cutting off breasts.......symbol of mother earth.
We men are on earth to protect women and children, not to destroy...
I have no words anymore.

TO JENNIE.

Jenny your not the only one who lived in war. Me too have lived in war and bare the concequences of it still with me.
You talk of acceptance then don't be judgemental on my age either.

I don't form my opion out of thin air. I lived it I smelled it, and eventaually had to flee.
No not by car, did not have that luxary, no i flee crawling for 15 kilometers before i could raise myself again without too much danger.
As you asume i am young, i can asume your still in your part of what also is my country which i miss dearly. The truth is that if i would return to live in Sarajevo i run a big chance of getting a bullet threw my head.

I already had a nasty threat of rape by just posting my opion. So no thank you i rather stay alive as god gave it to me.

Another thing i've been around being well studied psychiatrist and so on, but there is one BIG mistake you are making i lost everything my house my husband my 3 children my father in law my mother in law my husbands brother and his wife who was pregnant at the time they where murdered.
So don't tell me that i don't know the horrors of war.

How is your life no Jennie? Also still have nightmerres? Also lost it all?
Sorry, but the message you posted was a little too much for me. To be honest dislike So called old people telling a so called younger person "you haven't seen anything, so you can't know"

And then another thing please don't mention me in the same breath with a ignorant girl like Maja.

She does not talk from experience i do.

If you want to except don't think you get away with your age! for me it's a very cowardish thing to do. I don't start ananising you either cause i am a psychiatrist do i?

Emina

Hello it's me again,( after so long .... )

Jack:
Olá como estas ?
Sorry i did not awser your post, i wasnt at the office.

I was thinking is SALVATORE message
"Or I will take revenge, kill!!, kill!!, I want to drink their blood, after cutting their throats"
This is kind of feeling in everyone's mind ... ( denieded or not ), i also feel that way, deep down inside i'm very hangry againt the Serbian Army.
But what i fear, most of all, is that NATO troops feel this way too ( and mostly do , just like eveyone else ) , because if they do, when they arrive Serbian ( by ground ) i sure they will do exactly same thing to Serbians ( inocent or not ).
We dont have the change revenge, but they will do ...

Dont ignore the power of hate, hate IS blind and revenge is even worst.

I know, in my contry has happend almost the same thing. When our Ex-colonies wanted independence, they start war killing many Portuguese colons (???), then we take revenge, and i cant explain or tell the "war crimes" that happend, ( my grandfather can ... )

I'll be arround here ....

Josué R.

Emina,
Glad you still can laugh after all you have been through. God bless you. But I probably really do need psychoanalysis! If I didn't have God and my family to support me, I would have lost it a long time ago. Take care of yourself and your family, and don't let all of this get you down.
Brotherly love,
Charlie

Josue,

Bon dia.

Give me a hint on a good Porto wine.
Do you have a favorite one?

Where is your office?
I love Lisboa and I've had some great times there.
Flew there with TAP about 5 years ago.

We have a nice Portuguese colony on this island.
They are well-cultured and hard-working people.
Most are from Madeira and for some reason
they own all the "refresqueria's" here.
