The Russian army doesn't seek glory. It has got enough (hundred times greater than yours). This jump to the airport was to prove NATO wouldn't be too lonely out there.
Well "a bunch of hungry ex-communists" sounds cool enough. But one paratrooper (who should be starving,I suppose)with nothing but a grenade launcher on his shoulder stopped a group of British tanks when they tried to enter the airport by force, and they didn't have guts to move further and retreated.
