You are missing the point. It is impossible to have a conventional war b/n Russian federation and Nato, because both sides will try to win, thus leads to use nukes. Also, I am not sure I really want to see who is better in killing others.

It is not up to me to make assertions on who should represent Chechens in a negotiating table. But if there is a will, a way forward can be found. When a decision is made to negotiate in good faith, it is not proper trying to impose the other side who should represent them. Basayev is a legend to most Chechens, and a criminal to Russians. Nevertheles he is an important player in the conflict, and trying to circumvent him won't achieve the desired outcome.

I do not want to argue about who wins (see my message above), but I would say that equipment itself does not do a thing, people need to know how to use it properly. Irag's army was not prepare to fight this war, the generals were not ready or knew the proper use of troops (please, do not believe my word, check the military analisys: www.fas.org)
