btw - there are some EXCELLENT translations into
English
one being done by Thomas Cleary (he has a
translation for parts of the Quran,)

the one by Muhammed Asad, a Austrian Jewish
convert to Islam is also outstanding,

the most widespread is the translation by
Yusuf ali but it is not necessarily the best.

there are also other translations by other
converts to Islam, eg Marmaduke Pickthall

I do not know Mr. Bodansky, but his account of Chechen independence seems to be rather thorough and accurate. Sure he is not attributing creation of the Chechnen state to Allah - that hardly makes him an anti-Muslim, however.

I think I know how Mr. Bodansky got himself heard in higher circles - Igor probably has searched the web on "Chechnya".
