what you say makes a lot of sense to me, but this is only one side of a complex situation which also should be viewed from the timeline perspective. Cossack said earlier "I lived in Caucasus many years and never had a problem with Muslim faith". Well I have my own experience of living in Caucasus in predominantly muslim environment too and would strongly disagree: as soon as muslims (I generalize to define the loud majority which is most socially active) are left to develop into what they want to be as a society they turn violent, intolerant, barbaric. Need examples? Don't search too far - Chechnya was shaping itself into what we have now for almost a decade including last 3 years of an undisputed independence... We all know the results. The messages of "chechen" on this board are very informative in this respect - we tent to dismiss it as a nonsense but being very naive he reveals in very compact form the ugly truth about muslim fundamentalism. Granted, they are poor and not too smart, but they successfully compensate it with savage aggressiveness and scary birth rate...
My point is: the people in the Western countries often think Russia is trying to hide it's real agenda (the oil) behind the tails about the muslim terrorists. Well, I say the threat of terrorism from Chechnya is very real, even though it's certainly not the only reason for Russia to take measures to establish the constitutional order on it's territory...

Please, start thinking about something different that war. Maybe about how to get education, better job...Your country is in ruins now and you want the wrest of Muslim world to be annihilated by NUKS. The root of this conflict is the US trying to destabilize Russia to gain influence in the Caucusus. With estimated reserves of 200 bn barrels of oil, there are alot of riches there that the US wants Iran and Russia to get none. I dont blame the Russians one bit for fighting for what is their's. From someone who has worked in the oil industry for 20 years, I know a bit about it.
You are a shame to Americans. I bet you are so dumb you believe what you read in the NYT. If you can read at all. Does us a favor and get lost.

I never supported invasion of Afganistan. That was a stupid idea of Communist leaders. Also I heard of some Chechen soldiers who killed a lots of Mujes in Afghanistan.
