International Red Cross has made an urgent appeal for nearly $2.5 million
required to help the storm/flood victims in India in the wake of a recent
series of storms and the resulting flooding. The storms have had a
devastating effect on the state of Orissa, where millions of people have
been rendered homeless and thousands of people have died. Many of the
survivors have gone without much/any food or drinking water for the past
four days. While relief and help has started coming in, it will take months
to rebuild the infrastructure and rehabilitate the homeless. Please visit
the following two web sites to get an idea of the extent of damage and the
kind of help required:

As you might be aware, over 7000 people have already died and over 25 million have been severely affected in what has been one of the worst cyclones of the century and this figure is expected to double (by a conservative estimate) if immediate action is not taken.

Although Govt. is trying to cope up with the demands of such a large populace, many private companies have jumped in to help.

Now you can help provide food and aid to one person a day just by visiting the site http://www.causeanaffect.org and clicking on the red button "Save A Life"

For each click a day, the cyclone affected people in Orissa
will be paid Rs9/ relief (about $0.25).

It will take just a fraction of a second to click this link.
PLEASE HELP.

Thanks,

APPEAL

"Little drops of Water, Little grains of Sand,
Make a mighty ocean and a pleasant land
Little deeds of kindness, Little words of Love,
Will make this earth an eden, like the heaven above"

Devastated by the super-cyclone, 10 districts of Orissa have been severely affected. We have suffered a great loss in terms of life and property. With more than 20,000 deaths, millions affected, loss of live-stock, cattle, grain, destruction of flora and fauna, Orissa faces irrevocable resultant damage.

Relief in the form of cash and funds is pouring in from India and abroad. But whatever we do seems to be like a drop in the ocean. We appeal to you to help our organisation - Arupa Mission Research Foundation to carry out relief duties in OParadip and Jagatsingpur (the most affected areas). Having adopted these areas we are reaching out to the affected, distributing food and medicine, clothes, kerosene and other basic relief material. Above all, our organisation is mobilising people to help in mass burials and burning of dead bodies to prevent the spread of the epidemic, which is already taking root. Help us to help the devastated, Help us to "rehabilitate" those who survived. Blessings to you.
