El mundo debe mirar a Venezuela para brindar ayuda en aras de aliviar las
urgencias...?

Como todos sabrán, a estas alturas, las lluvias caídas en los últimos días,
crearon una verdadera catástrofe nacional.

Los lechos de quebradas, que parten del Avila, hacia Caracas y hacia la
Guaira, se colmaron. Las casas, la basura y los palos hicieron falsos
diques que acumularon agua en cantidades desproporcionadas, la misma
precipitación debilitó la cohesión del terreno, en las laderas, y la
explosión, que fue nocturna, creo la catástrofe. Hoy en día la capital está
incomunicada por tierra y aire, ya que el aeropuerto de Maiquetía se
encuentra colapsado por los refugiados, pueblos como los Corales, Maiquetía,
la Guaira, Galipán y Macuto, simplemente desaparecieron, la carretera de la
costa fue borrada y los muertos pueden pasar de 20,000.

Para colmo de males, la represa del Guapo, en el estado Miranda, colapsó
se se llevó por delante un sinnúmero de aldeas y pueblo.

Todavía, a cuatro días de la tragedia, no se sabe la magnitud de los
daños y desaparecidos.

Lugares históricos como el casco colonial de la Guayra, la Guipuzcuana,
el museo Reverón, no existen.

No hay luz, ni agua, ni teléfonos, ni comunicación con el litoral, y hay
que evacuar 100,000 personas que no tienen nada.

Los saqueos se han dado en esa zona y la seguridad no ha llegado.

Seguiremos informando, si el tiempo amaina y la situación se estabiliza.

I am mailing this URGENT note making a
desperated call of SOS to all Venezuelans and
Americans in the United States.
We are living a moment of tragedy in Venezuela
after many days of heavy rains that have led to a
big kind of volcano that rolled down thousands of
m3 of mud all over the Vargas State covering up
to 11 meters height of mud and rocks.
Avenues, squares and houses completely
disapeared.
There are still lots of people without water waiting
to be rescued in this northern state of the country
on the sea side next to the Capital city Caracas.
In spite of all the efforts there are not enough
resources available yet to have a very large
portion of the 550 thousand inhabitants from the
Vargas' state that survived the huge volcano of
water with mud and rocks that rolled down the
wednesday night from the largest hill El Avila that
separates Caracas from the Vargas' State.
Apart from vaccines, canned food, water, and
other supplies what we need the most are
helicopters to help rescue the people that have
almost 3 days by now that the 40 helicopters that
we have in the area have not been enough to
rescue all of them in due time.
We very much appreciate if you can send an
S.O.S. to all private and public sectors that can
help provide more helicopters to help rescue this
people before is too late.
The sun is very strong and is drying out all the
people and there is no water at all in the area.
Please radiate this request in your web site and let
everybody know what we are living in Venezuela
and that we need URGENT HELP. More as what
we have received is not enough at all.
There are lots of dead bodies under the mud that
the goverment is unable to rescue now as it is
dedicating all the efforts to rescue the survivors.

Mi familia, se salvó de milagro, gracias a Dios, vivía en Tanaguarena, que
son mi madre, mis hermanos y sus hijos, ¿se imaginan la angustia que yo
sentí durante tres larguísimos días hasta enterarme de que están vivos y en
la base aérea de Maracay ?, sobre todo cuando vi las imágenes del Club
Tanaguarena que ya no existe, !y tampoco las casas alrededor!, - dos de
ellas eran nuestras casas -. No quisiera que NADIE sufra la angustia que
sufrí y mucho menos lo que sufrieron ellos, ni contarles como se salvaron,
perdieron todo lo que hicieron durante treinta y tanto años, TODO, y ahora
todos están en mi modesto apartamento en Caracas, con vida Gracias a Dios
otra vez.

Jamás me he sentido tan solidario por mi País como ahora y especialmente por
el Edo. Vargas, que me vió crecer . Ya Vargas no existe amigos....

As an N2P user whose wife's family is in Venezuela, I am quite sensitive to the issue.

The idea of free Xmas calls for existing users within the US is "nice", but has nowhere near the impact a humanitarian action such as disaster-relief could achieve, both in publicity and customer-base increase.

(As a side note, I hope the quality of calls improves. Echos, choppiness & delays are nerve-wracking...)

Una gota en el ocean, lo se...

Is God the cause of the devastation of your
countrymen and land? No. Really,can a weatherman
be held accountable for the weather that he predicts? The Bible states that God is love. He
doesn't punish certain nations anymore than a
parent would allow a child to undergo a painful
operation knowing that in time it will prove
beneficial. And so all the more so with our loving
Father in the heavens. He permits these "natural
disasters" to occur until his time comes when all
suffering and tragedy will be eliminated. Yes, He
will take action to benefit all who truly love Him. So just as that loving parent allows that child to suffer for awhile,he will get better because the cause of his illness was dealt with.
And isn't it true that that often takes time?
Jesus foretold the worldwide devastation we see
daily. All these things are evidence of the sign
of the complete end of this system of things. And
in turn the resultant blessings from the Kingdom
of God,thereafter.-Luke 21:11,31;Acts 10:34;
Ecclesiastes 9:11. Fear God. He will never be late.
