Dennis was 335 miles east-southeast of Nassau, Bahamas, at 8 a.m. EDT with top wind of nearly 45 mph. After meandering for several hours, it was expected to resume a west-northwest track at about 8 mph some time today.
``Residents along the entire southeastern United States coast should closely monitor the progress of this system,'' said hurricane specialist Jack Beven of the hurricane center.
It looks now like Dennis will end up hitting the New england coast by Tuesday.
A hurricane warning is in effect for the Bahamian islands of Eleuthera, the Abacos, Berry and Grand Bahama, and a hurricane watch has been issued for central and northern Florida, from Sebastian Inlet near Vero Beach northward to the Georgia border.
Does anyone have damage reports from the Bahamas?
Thanks
Mr. Blake
On Eleuthera island, The winds have been fierce, the oceans have been very raging. It's difficult for cars to pass by because there are waves coming over the main road so it would cover your cars.
Hi,
Does anyone have any news on the storms effects on Bimini?

The winds here in New Bern, NC have died down, but we have severe flooding. The Pamlico Sound and Neuse River are up about 6 ft. If waters don't receed it could be worse at tonights high tide around 11pm tonight
We have rented a beautiful home in the Corolla, NC area for the week of 9/4-9/11. Any updates out there as to the conditions in that area from someone who has actually been out there?

I live in California and I hope everyone on the East coast is alright.
DENNIS is now a Tropical Depresion, but is still pounding parts of NC and VA with terrential rains. Thousands still with no power. Luckily, when Dennis came on shore it did so in a mostly unpopulated area. Thousands are still stranded.
Is route 12 open yet?
Thank you.
Pete
