Earl Russell, C6AGH, is reporting five feet of water in the settlement at GTC!!!!!! Pressure is 28.72 and falling at 1:15P EDT!!!!! Earl is estimating winds 120-140 knots sustained from 240 degrees. He lost his dock and radio tower. His antennas are on the ground but he is still getting out. I don't know if any of you know this but Earl is in his 70s. He is a retired morse code operator for BATELCO. He is a trooper!!!!!!!!! He is truly a hero in terms of staying at the key as we call it and getting the news out......

Just listening to Bob in Little Harbour. They are in the eye and have been for 1.5 hours at 3:40PM. Winds are variable at 5 - 10. Water is high. Bob says most of Pete's foundry has disappeared!!!!!!! That is a quote.

Expect them to be in the eye for about another hour.

Regrets, Steve

Have been unable to locate any news on Gov Harbor but review of the Ohio State
satellite images shows that the storm hit Gov Harbor from Atlantic side
beginning yesterday at 1 pm, intensified at around 10 pm with eye touching
eastern side of island around Gov Harbor at about 6 am and rolling up eastern
coast toward Harbor Isl. Gov Harbor in the thick of it as of 2:15 pm now that
hurricane is in the north and winds are coming from the Caribbean side.

I would be grateful for any additional info on Gov Harbor.

Re Freeport.
Spoke to my mother about 1;00PM today. They are doing OK. High winds...little rain. The main concern was any storm surge for the lower areas. The shelter are filling up fast. Same for pets.

They were still hoping the worst would pass them by. I hope so.

If anyone has anymore recent info please advise. I'm going to try to call again soon

Talked to Rocky Thompson, Pieces of Eight at 10:45 EST. Winds at about 100 MPH with heavy gusts. Limbs down and shingles blowing off the roof. Otherwise, everything holding together. Beach is boiling but water not coming up to house yet. Still about 2 hours until high tide and surge.

He, Cherie, and kids are doing fine. His house is protected by the bush. Wind is blowing more down on it instead of getting a horizontal hit. He is feeling relatively safe right now. Kevin Albury next door also O.K. His family went to FLA.

The following was in a recent press release:
``Eleuthera took a direct hit. We know there's damage but we don't know how much. It will be substantial,'' said Todd Kimberlein of the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

Ham radio operators said wind gusts had reached 135 mph (217 km/h) in Eleuthera, a mile-wide, 100-mile (160-km) long pink-sanded island that is home to 11,000 people.

I still can't get through to anyone who I know in Dundas Town and Spring City and Marsh Harbour. Does anyone have any information regarding these towns in Abaco? If anyone out there knows our relatives, Grenada Sawyer & family and Tony/Monica Adderley...send them our prayers. From Tina, Britino and Preeya Milburn-Adderley in Canada.

Saint Stephens Area How safe is it there???

Can anyone tell me if Saint Stephens is in the tracking path of Floyd??? I have friends there
and I am concerned. They work in the Moncks Corner area and reside in Saint Stephens.
As of 1130pm last nite I knew the schools ofr Berkley County were closed and at 1100am I was told it was headed for them, but now I just don't know anymore.
Please give me any info that anyone has concerning this area
Thanks,
Karen aka alwaysxox@yahoo.com
