All the serbs claim we don't know their side of the story, their losses during the air stikes. Why is that, let me see, oh it's because Milosevic's government, troops, police, whatever kicked out all foreign journalists. For some reason serbs, such as Maja, believe the rest of the world is blind or brainwashed to what their governments do. Living in Canada I can tell you many media outlets are not controlled by the government(is that the same in Serbia?) and we hear/read many stories against NATO also. In North America there's something called freedom of expression, so we, as much as you don't believe it, hear and digest many sides to a story. For some reason serbs can total and blindly believe that the world media are liars using doctored footage yet you don't question your STATE runned media. Does that seem strange to you? I don't know how it is to live in Yugoslavia and I can't say everything NATO does is right. But I can say I am glad that I live where I live. Here many different nationalities with different religious beliefs live peacefully together. Even if we disagree with each other there's no fear of secret military groups or terrorists killing us. Can the same be said of Yugoslavia? No and that's the sad and terrible truth.

To Lambert

<<<'I can not believe that history will record that my country attacked a soveriegn nation. I could live with the fact that there were always people in the world that thought America was a bad country, but as long as I could teach my children that we stood for values and humanitarian beliefs that would stand the test of time, I was still proud.'

You just can't imagine what a relief to read the above stated! When I hear on TV (which is propaganda, I realize that all right)that 50% Americans do NOT support the manslaughter in Serbia, I look forward to having it all out with at least one of them. As for Clinton, you should accept part of the responsibility for the blood-spiller and be ashamed of him. You shall, 'cause you seem to be reasonable and just in appraisal.

<<<'I know it will not help anyone hiding in their basements tonight trying to make their children feel safe. And it certainly will not prevent the grandmother and new-born baby that will freeze to death in a wet field tonight, but I apologize from the bottom of my soul for what my country is doing. I and my family can only offer our shame and our prayers that this ends.'

You're getting right to the core here. As far as I have noticed noone on this board does. I felt exactly the same when Russian troops cut villages in Chechnya. Only God knows when exactly the rockets with the words "Happy Easter" will come back and what punishment they will bring. Don't think I'm a religious fan. A believer in The Creator... So am I. And a teacher as well. A teacher of your language, which has always been the language of the civilized. When my students uttered today it is the language of war, manslaughter and violence I told them it is neither language nor the people that is resposible.

<<<The truth is that the most blessed country in the history of mankind has strayed so far from the foundation that it was built on that it has proven that it will follow the same path that all other powerfull nations before it has. It will self destruct.

I hope it won't. You're a powerful nation and a sort of balance the world needs to last and flourish. This situation is really urgent and besides praying I'd advise you to act. Do something to stop it now.

EAL, I said that before and I am gonna repeat myself for the tenth time. I am not a Serb.
I am watching American, Italian, Slovenian, Croat, English and German news. You can not say that my opinion is such because I am a brainwashed Serb.

Maja,

Does it really matter to those who do not think like you whether you are a Serb ? If you notice, anyone who disagreed with you ever since bombardments began called you a Serb. Serb or Serb supporter is just about the same, that makes you, me, Spiro Dreamer, Sergey and many more "defenders of the Milosevic propaganda-fed nazi supporters".

Perhaps this is why only one side of the story is being shown by the media. As soon as an unusual point is raised by a journalist, meaning something against NATO directions, actions are probably taken to extinguish his voice. That is why instead of checking out immediately why Greek and Macedonian media report the transfer of 19 containers allegedly hosting the bodies of 19 US soldiers, I guarantee that instead everything will be done in order to cover it up. If those who claim to be journalists still enjoy a hint of credibility, they should prove this rumour wrong.

A lot of NATO supporters are confusing here emotions and reason/logic. Let's try and understand why this takes place instead of casting them a stone. When I hear that Rugova's house is reported to have been burned down, and his fellow Kosovar leaders executed my first reaction is to get mad (assuming I believe the information): that's the emotional part. The next reaction should be to QUESTION it, RESEARCH into it, check the SOURCES OF INFORMATION, then I could make a better judgment.

The story of Georg is a perfect illustration of the point I am trying to make. I am very sorry about his friend, he is not the first one who has suffered and definitely won't be the last. However Georg ceases to be an objective, moderate participant to this discussion website as soon as his emotions override his sense of reasoning. This is exactly why you have got three sides in this conflict:

1) Yougoslavia who claim Kosovo should be theirs and that they are not committing the massacre they are accused of, and their supporters

2) The NATO organisation who claim that they are on a humanitarian mission, and their supporters

3) This giant crowd of people who can only forge an opinion based on the available media.

I think that number 3) could possibly decide the outcome of this war. Look at these people, they are a bit like computer disks, or video tapes. Once information has been recorded, only that can be played back. Now the first type of information they record has a very big impact on how they are going to think and what they are going to believe and spread around them. That information is strongly engraved in their minds, for the media greatly enhanced it through pictures, victims interviews, newspapers articles.
Let's face it, war makes great TV, ask the Aviano base visitors how impressive NATO planes are. Wow, look how many bombs they loaded on this thing ! And the B-52 ! How many engines does this thing have ?

Playing the emotional chord of these people of cathegory 3) worked for NATO and its supporters. You can call these people "undecided", after all they were until someone else decided for them ! It is too late for a lot of these people such as Georg, since they probably will not change their mind. The satanisation of Yugoslav people has been so effective that the last glimpse of a possibility of discussion is now beyond this man. And that is a real shame, this site is supposed to propose an exchange of information between different opinions. What would be the point of offering a pro-NATO discussion site and a Yugoslav one held separately ?

Can we assume that we hit a sensitive area when someone of a different opinion responds to your message insulting you ? Maybe. Someone said "only the truth hurts". I do not hold the truth, nor does any of the users on this site I think. However I have access to sufficient sources of information to feel extremely confident about certain ideas. That is why I will continue to report information every time I deem its source reliable.

Should all these good souls really feel for Kosovars, they would have at least prepared some food and shelter in advance.

Nicolas

Spiro Dreamer,

Your post are all so funny, tell us some more "lies", I mean jokes.

Lambert,
Serbia is a Christian country, I'm ashamed to be a Christian.

Maybe if everyone was Atheist the world would be a better place to live. Just look at all the wars and fighting because of the differences of reliegious beliefs. Protestants fighting Catholics, Christians fighting Muslims, Muslims fighting Jews and I could go on.

I don't see Atheist fighting anyone!

Hey Dan !

You are absolutely right !

Religion is dangerous. Look at the Irish problem.

But is it really religion, or is it just another excuse for more power ?

No offence, but the Kosovo problem has got nothing to do with religion. Do not be ashamed of your religion, that is part of what makes you a unique individual.

Would there be any Catholics today if they had to be ashamed for the millions killed by the Spanish Inquisition and other monstruous entities killing in the name of God ?

If the Serbian people read this, please believe me when I say that the American people are totally against the bombing and want it to stop. We never wanted it in the first place and were not told by our government just how far they'd go. But, are you aware of what your leader is doing to the Albanian people in your country, or don't you care? Think back to the Jews during WWII.

Just because the U.S. is guilty of crimes this does NOT mean that Milosovic should not be punished severely! Indeed it is a moral obligation on the world to do so! What the world did not do about Milosovic's master plan for genocidal mayhem in Bosnia it must do now! The rape of Kosovo cannot be allowed to coninue! It is up to the Serb people to get out of this victim mentality, realise who the real victims have been over the years and to take control of the situation by SEIZING Milosovic in a People's Coup d'etat and sending him by first class post to the International War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague! Only then can some form of quiet descend on the region and Serbia once again be part of the International Community. Think about it! (Do not take too long to think lest time run out. I appeal to all Serbs who have the hearts of true human beings search your consience and do something - get rid of this fiend. Take action now!).

Appealer,

To justify an aggression on a sovereign country led by an organisation founded on the principles of DEFENCE while breaking international conventions, you always need a bad guy.

Milosevic is just a scapegoat.

To Nick,

1)How do you explain Milosovic's desire for greater Serbia in his annhialation of Bosnia-Herzogovina/ethnic cleansing, etc?

2)O.K. let's for one minute be foolish enough to assume he is just a scapegoat. What is Nato's true objective then?

Maja sorry for saying that you are a serb. I really didn't read past posts, but my opinion stays the same. Also I have to agree with appealer, can someone educate me on why NATO is really attacking Serbia for? They have no oil, no gold, nothing but land is this right or wrong? Or is NATO part of a global conspiracy against the Serbs? Someone explain please.
