I haven't posted here in a long time, because I thought the discussion had descended into name-calling and mutual recrimination. I can see the level of discussion has improved from that, now including many more references to international news stories and lesser-known coverage of the important issues...

What I hope for...

I don't know how we'll become a people so adverse to violence that we develop the capability to talk about the things that concern us most. To name a problem, however eloquently, is not to solve it. As the bombings cease, with death dealt (always unfairly) to all sides in this war, what could we do to prevent violence from reoccurring? We live in a world of too many acronyms, don't you think? The KLA, NATO, FRY -- but these all are people. I know it sounds simplistic in light of what's gone on for the past eleven weeks. My question: Does it sound simplistic in light of all human history? Aren't all graves ultimately alike? Aren't the joys and dreams of children (including, give or take a few years, all of us) what we must concentrate on? Can we get beyond that old child's game of heroes and villains, power and none, to find something true and shining in our souls?

Maybe we're too animal for that; maybe the animal in us is inevitable; maybe not. But even the animal craves love...

I'm sorry if I seem to be straying from specifics. But I don't know how else to pray for a good outcome. Maybe just knowing we all face death could be the beginning. It's hard to learn how to live fully otherwise -- at least that's my experience. I pray for the accusations to stop. It tears at our energy, destroys the joy and curiosity that's our birthright at least as much as our craving for power and ownership.

The writers here come from all around the world. An attempt to speak one language, made of many languages, has been made -- a beginning. I hope we'll treat that beginning with respect and with gratitude. Ten, twenty, a hundred years from now, no one will remember what the KLA, or NATO, or FRY even mean. No one will remember any of us, but what we do and say and put forth now will certainly contribute to the making of the world.

We have the bumper sticker: "Life sucks, then you die." And another one: "Practice random acts of kindness." Another one: "My child is an honor student at [fill in the school]." And in reply to that: "My child beat up your honor student at [fill in the school]."

So? What're we gonna do about it?

To Nancy

Way to go!

There is always a fine line between standing up for your opinion and name calling. It is time that individual people stand up for themselves and think for themselves, instead of running like a dog after a so called leader, whether he is called Milosevic or Clinton, it does not matter. I think the Internet can be a good start to do just that!

NATO, SERBIA REACH MILITARY AGREEMENT ON KOSOVA. Near
Kumanovo on 9 June, military representatives of the
Atlantic alliance and Serbia reached an agreement on the
Serbian military's withdrawal from Kosova. NATO air
strikes ceased shortly thereafter, although spokesmen
for the alliance in Brussels stressed the strikes have
not been officially suspended. According to the
agreement, the Serbian military must leave Kosova within
11 days in stages along prescribed routes. NATO had
previously demanded that the Serbian forces leave within
seven days. In Kumanovo, Yugoslav General Svetozar
Marjanovic said that "the war has ended." In Belgrade,
crowds appeared in the streets to celebrate. State-run
media reported that Yugoslavia had reached an agreement
"with the UN."

Clinton and Slob Milo both claim the victory. I only think it was all one big tragedy. I also hope that Slob Milo will be lifted from his bed by a couple of well trained British spearhead airbornes or marines and bring him to The Hague. True deomcracy can only be without him.

For the rest, I hope Nato is not too chicken to investigate their own blunders and wrong doings. Democracy will be served by doing so.

The war is still not over...just wait and you'll see. Serbs are hungry for blood and they don't give up just like that. Milo claim this is his victory...think about it....he is just waiting for NATO soldiers to enter Kosovo with hope that Kosovo is free of Milo-butchers, but they will enter in one big trap. Next step he is going to do is kill some own-Serbian people with own soldiers claiming 'NATO did it'. Then will start the REAL WAR over there.... And don't forget Russian army. They want to have own part in Kosovo....

In the name of all of us....I HOPE I'AM WRONG!

Why the World Should Legalize Cannabis

The (IOM)Institute of Medicine's cannabis report
http://homepages.go.com/homepages/m/a/r/marthag1/ddc.htm
concludes the medicinal value of cannabis. That it is not addictive, not a stepping stone to white powders and it has never killed anyone. The Government buried this info and then voted to suspend any future funding. The DC medicinal marijuana vote has not been released to date.
Driving studies conclude cannabis safer than alcohol and even abstenence in heavy traffic.
http://mojo.calyx.net/~olsen/HEMP/IHA/iha01206.html
and still;
Every 45 seconds we create an American criminal for possession of cannabis.
http://www.norml.org
2 million have gone through the criminal system under Clinton.
Forfeiture laws steal homes to the spoils of WoD.
87% of WoD is allocated to cannabis.
99.28% of the cannabis eradications are non psychoactive ditchweed.
$17 Billion is allocated to the 99 WoD.
99.28% of 87% of $17B is;
$14,683,512,000.00 to save our kids from rope, canvas burlap, clothing, shelter, biomass fuel, and the most nutritionally complete food on the planet!
http://www.pacifichemp.com/
Corporate Petro Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Alcohol, Timber, Cotton, Meat and Tobacco interests in competition with cannabis have lobbied sucessfully for years to keep cannabis illegal. With the governments, corporate media and the major religions assistance. All on fabricated lies, secret backroom "riders", myth's and lack of a truthful press.
So it seems we are a stiffnecked race and if food, fuel, fiber and FARMaceuticals doesn't Legalize it, the Physics of cannabis having a greater mass than anything living, more tensil strength than cotton or wood. Or the Historical knowledge that cannabis helped build this country and the Smithsonian is denying its existance. Or that cannabis was probably mankinds first cultivated crop and used by almost every culture, or that no other plant can provide the 12 fruits of the tree of life except cannabis.
Rev22:2

And if the business and agricultural aspects of a cash crop with 100,000 products potential including dozens of medicinal ailments isn't convincing.

Or that it can replace the booze in alcoholism. Allowing healthier living. Yet the Zero Tolerence, Manditory minimums Gestapo tactics continue.
Stripping Americans of their Constitution and caging cannabis activists B.E.Smith, Will Foster, Steve Kubby, Gideon Isreal, Peter McWilliams, Todd, Martin and 2 million more.

All that and its still illegal?
OK, then here's another reason to legalize cannabis;

"The prestige of government has undoubtedly been lowered considerably by the Prohibition law. For
nothing is more destructive of respect for the government and the law of the land than passing laws
which cannot be enforced. It is an open secret that the dangerous increase of crime in this country is
closely connected with this."
