I find it rather interesting that no one seems to notice the trend that is occuring with Russia and Chechnya. I lived in Russia for 3 years and noticed some interesting facts. No major reforms have occured in Russia since 94. This would also be the starting time of the 1st Chechen conflict. Nothing occured, and the excuse was that "There is a war going on"! That conflict ended in 96. The country began to rebuild a bit. Then economic crisis. Again no reforms. The money laundering scandal occured, and Russia was now under the magnifying glass of the world. Suddenly Chechnya acts up again, and we no longer hear a peep about the billions of our tax-payer dollars that are going into private pockets. When is our government going to cut through the Russian Smoke Screen of B.S. We either need to see reforms in Russia, and stability, or our money back with a big fat refund.
